Gentler on wine than a centrifugal or impeller-style pump, a monoscrew pump has a low shear value. It is the ideal solution for filtering and perfect for barrel transfers as well. It is self-priming pump and comes with a Telemechanique frequency drive to control flow from 0-15 gallons/minute. Speed and flow direction can be controlled from the control panel. The included remote control, with 30' cord, controls flow in the forward direction (via a potentiometer/speed pot)but does not allow you to switch directions via the remote.
The ability to run at low speeds for long periods of time, with total flow control, remote and a low shear value makes this the ultimate small-winery pump for filtering, bottling, and any sort of wine transferring.
How the pump works: A rounded, internal stainless screw rotates wine through a food-grade rubber boot. Wine is essentially passed throuh the cavity in a cork-screw motion. In forward mode, wine enters the pump at the end at exits at the top. In reverse mode wine enters through the top and exits at the end. The build in by-pass is a feature used during filtering when back pressure exists. The by-pass allows you to allow a certain portion of the wine, up to 25% to be transferred from the exit side back to the entry side. This will reduce pressure at the inlet of your filter. Due to its uniqe design, the bypass works in either direction.
Because the pump comes with a fan cooled, electric motor the pump can be ran at low rpm over extended periods without heating up. Again this feature is ideal for filtering where extended runs at low rpm can cause a normal motor driven fan (which spins at the same rpm as the motor) to not provide sufficient cooling.
Includes 3/4hp motor, frequency drive, stainless cart, built-in by-pass, electric fan, remote control with 15' cord. 220V single phase. Maximum pressure is 4 bar/56 p.s.i.
